Position Summary
The John Jerome Paul Chair for Equity in Math Education is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the role of Research Assistant/Project Manager. This part-time position is ideally suited to an educator who is not currently working full time or someone studying at the MEd or PhD level, looking to gain more research and collaboration experience while studying. The successful applicant must be available in person during the work day in Antigonish for at least part of the time, and must also be available during some daytime hours to travel to schools. Some weekend and evening work may be required on occasion. The role is crucial to the success of our research and outreach initiatives, focusing on promoting equity in math education
Duties and Responsibilities
Work under the direct supervision of the Chair holder, Dr. Lisa Lunney Borden.
Support a variety of research and outreach projects that advance the Chair's goals.
Conduct data collection, data entry, and data analysis.
Prepare research proposals, reports, and related documentation.
Collaborate with research participants, community partners, and other stakeholders.
Create materials for research activities and outreach programs.
Supervise undergraduate research and outreach assistants.
Qualifications and Skills
Background in Education or a related field
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Excellent writing and research skills
Comfort using a variety of technological tools such as spreadsheets, collaborative whiteboards, web-based tools, etc.
Prior experience in a research or outreach role is a plus.
Work Arrangement:
Flexible hours to accommodate part-time schedule. Some in-person tasks on campus will be required, but remote work is possible when feasible. Work will also include visits to research sites including schools. Some evening and weekend work may be required for special events.
