The Opportunity
Truefoam is currently seeking a Shift Supervisor - Power Engineer (4th class) at our Dartmouth location
This role plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations. This position combines hands-on technical responsibilities with leadership duties, overseeing utility systems and production floor activities. The successful candidate will supervise shift personnel, manage utility systems, and support manufacturing performance while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

What you'll do
Responsibilities
Operations & Technical Duties
- Operate and monitor boilers, air compressors, chillers, and steam distribution networks
- Conduct chemical testing and treatment of boiler feedwater and cooling systems
- Run manufacturing equipment, support production as line lead, and complete production records
- Respond to alarms and coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve issues
- Maintain accurate operating logs, inspection records, and maintenance documentation
- Support outside contractors with machine repairs, upgrades, and installations
- Lead or assist with mold changeovers and preventive maintenance activities
- Identify and implement energy efficiency and process improvement opportunities
- Ensure all systems meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Supervisory & Leadership Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct power engineers, boiler operators, and shift personnel
- Manage production floor operations to meet output, quality, and safety goals
- Delegate tasks and adjust staffing based on production and utility needs
- Monitor production rates, machine uptime, scrap levels, and material usage
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety protocols, and emergency procedures
- Liaise with regulatory authorities for inspections, certifications, and compliance
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers and operators
- Lead or support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with other departments to maintain operational alignment
- Approve and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs
- Represent the facility with inspectors, contractors, and external stakeholders
- Participate in capital planning and recommend equipment upgrades or improvements
- Maintain shift reports, downtime logs, and handover documentation
What you'll need
Qualifications
Certification:
4th Class Power Engineer Certification is required
Experience:
- Experience operating boilers, compressors, chillers, and utility systems
- Prior experience conducting chemical testing and treatment of boiler feedwater and cooling systems
- Experience in a production facility or with EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) systems is an asset
- Supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing or utility environment preferred

Position Details
- Full-time permanent position
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday working rotating 8-hour shifts (Morning, evening, and night shifts)
- Starting hourly wage: $33/hour
