  Career Ladder Progression GL-9/GS-11/GL-10 GS12 typically takes approximately six months after hiring at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico. You'll learn about USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms etc. US citizens with primary residency for the last three years are able to travel throughout the country and region while participating in DEA training.
