The position of Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) offers an exceptional opportunity to work with a team of highly trained professionals who embody camaraderie, pride, and purpose in their daily mission of protecting America. As part of the Department of Homeland Security workforce, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our borders and enhancing economic prosperity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforcing customs laws and regulations while facilitating legitimate trade and travel
- Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances to prevent illicit activity
- Determining admissibility for entry into the United States
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience demonstrating people skills, ability to learn, apply knowledge
- For GS-5 grade level: 1 year general work experience OR education substitution - superior academic achievement OR graduate-level education
- For GS-7 grade level: minimum 1 year specialized full-time work experience equivalent to next lower grade level including physical inspections & observational techniques.
The successful candidate will undergo training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco GA., including firearms training, examination cargo/bags/merchandise & basic law enforcement skills.
