As a Spare Swamper, you are the engine of our residential collection team. You will work alongside our drivers to ensure waste and recyclables are collected efficiently, safely, and professionally. This is a highly physical, outdoor role that keeps our Coquitlam neighborhoods clean and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

• Manual Collection: Load recyclable and solid waste into the rear or side of collection vehicles.

• Equipment Operation: Safely operate hydraulic lifting systems and side-load mechanisms.

• Route Excellence: Maintain high-quality service standards on assigned residential routes.

• Public Face of GFL: Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance while interacting with the community.

• Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining accurate logs of services performed throughout the shift.

Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Must be able to repetitively lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

• Licensing: Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License (Air Brake Endorsement is a strong asset).

• Safety Mindset: Ability to follow strict safety protocols in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.

• Flexibility: As a "Spare," you are comfortable stepping in to cover various routes and schedules as operational needs change.
