We provide accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with our 11 First Nation community partners and the IFC in the provision of primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.
The opportunity: Under the direction of the Manager of the Minobimaadizing Program, the Team Assistant provides administrative and operational support to ensure the efficient delivery of Mental Wellness and Minobimaadizing services. The role supports the coordination and maintenance of program schedules by accurately entering, updating, and managing a high volume of client and appointment data within the electronic health record system.
This position plays a key role in supporting continuity of care by ensuring scheduling information is current, accurate, and accessible to the clinical team. Working collaboratively with nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, and program leadership, the role contributes to the smooth operation of clinic services while upholding confidentiality, privacy standards, and culturally safe, trauma-informed practices.
What you need to bring with you:
- Post-secondary diploma in Business or Office Administration, Medical Office Administration is preferred.
- 2 years' related experience. Experience in a healthcare environment would be a definite asset.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with a sound knowledge of the English language, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
- Proficiency working in a windows environment using Microsoft applications specifically MS Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with patient database software is a definite asset.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills to ensure data is entered accurately.
- Ability to work independently and accurately in the presence of frequent interruptions.
- Maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to manage frequent changes within a team environment.
- A clear criminal reference check is a condition of employment.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle and possess a valid driver's license
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of First Nation cultural values and traditions.
- Ability to speak Ojibway language is an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours including unplanned overtime.
- Ability to travel frequently
- Regular attendance at work is required.

What to expect? Given the traditional practices of Indigenous people, from time-to-time exposure to smoke from the burning of sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar may occur.
