Job Summary:
Reporting to the Design Manager, the Designer works directly on Storage system designs, from concept through installation and certification.
The role of a Designer inherently involves constant communication and interaction with customers, vendors, installers, and internal support teams, including Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and IT, to successfully manage projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Storage System Design – interpreting customer requests so they may be converted into simple to moderate design proposals that creatively optimize warehouse space utilization; This requires applying strong analytical skills in material flow and facility layout design and a comprehensive knowledge of both company-manufactured, and third-party product lines.
- CAD Drawings – preparation of complete and accurate presentation, installation, PSR / permit, and fabrication drawings for engineering approval using AutoCAD 2024 while meticulously adhering to company drawing standards. Finally, drawings prepared need to meet Engineering specifications for systems to be certified / stamped by our engineers.
- Costing & Quotation Preparation – preparing detailed bills of materials and costing of projects; the Designer is responsible to find the right approved supplier and obtain valid Bill of Materials. As the designer, the team will rely on you to prepare an optimized design and Bill of Material that is both complete and cost effective, with the assistance of the Design Manager (when required).
- Presentation of Proposals – actively participating, when requested, in the presentation of proposals to management, customers or consultants.
- Order - When an order comes in, you will be responsible for updating and completing all required drawings (Installation, Fabrication, Engineering Stamped drawing, approve 3rd party vendor drawings as required) and with the support of internal sales coordination team, assist in the processing of customer orders and vendor purchases, in particular with our plant.
- Installation Questions / Issues - Finally, at the installation phase, if there are any design issues, you will be called up as the project Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will be responsible for finding innovative solutions and resolving technical problems at site in conjunction with the Sales rep or the Project Manager.
- Peer Reviews – You may be requested, at the Design Manager discretion, to run Peer reviews following the Peer Review policy. This work is important to ensure accurate drawings and Bill of Materials.
- Special Projects – You may also be called upon to conduct special projects that will further develop or facilitate Konstant's design capabilities (e.g., maintaining accurate AutoCAD blocks for company-wide use, creating new product design standards, assessing the development of design automation resources, etc.)
- Site visits - When the situation arises, you may be called upon to conduct site evaluations and/or take site measurements, with the help of the Sales representative, up to Moderate projects.
To meet critical project milestones, it may sometimes be required that work be performed beyond normal working hours.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- The right individual will have the following qualifications:
- A post-secondary technical education (degree, diploma, certificate) ideally in either Civil Engineering or Architecture.
- Above average computer skills include a strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A flexible personality, a strong work ethic and a drive to deliver functional and cost-effective storage systems to tight deadlines.

Finally, as a Designer, you will also be required to maintain technical competence and acquire new job-relevant knowledge and skills through self-study and by participating in training or other learning activities offered by Konstant.
