Customs and Border Protection Officer Job Description
Job Summary:
This is a challenging role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer will be responsible for enforcing customs laws, inspecting goods and people entering the United States, and preventing smuggling activities.
Duties:
- Enforce customs laws by conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances;
- Facilitate trade by allowing legitimate goods to enter the country while deterring illicit activity;
- Investigate smuggling cases involving narcotics, currency fraud, agriculture products,
Work Environment: , CBP Officers , often referred to as inspectors or agents, are assigned varying duty posts at numerous ports throughout the U.S., including airports. Our workforce includes both entry-level candidates who have recently completed training — known as graduates within CBP’s Field Operations organization — through experienced officers with years of service. Some duties require you to travel away from your post.
The hiring process for this position is rigorous because it's an extremely sensitive job — think police officer plus border patrol rolled into one.
