Our growing logistics company in Chicago, Illinois, is looking for an experienced and motivated Warehouse Supervisor to lead our warehouse operations. As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing all daily activities within the warehouse, including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and safety. You will manage a team of warehouse associates, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and adherence to company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of warehouse management systems and best practices. Your primary focus will be on optimizing workflow, minimizing errors, and ensuring a safe working environment for all staff. This role requires a proactive approach to managing resources and personnel to meet operational goals. You will play a vital role in the overall success of our supply chain and logistics network. Regular training sessions will cover safety protocols, including the appropriate use of PPE, and emergency procedures. We emphasize a culture of safety, and all team members are expected to prioritize it in their daily tasks. The position involves significant responsibility for inventory accuracy and throughput, demanding a keen eye for detail and a commitment to operational excellence. You will be instrumental in implementing process improvements and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of warehouse staff, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance management.
- Ensure efficient and accurate receiving, stocking, picking, packing, and shipping of goods.
- Manage inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Implement and enforce all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring proper use of PPE and a safe working environment.
- Optimize warehouse layout and workflow to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Train and mentor warehouse associates on job duties, safety procedures, and operational best practices.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse operations.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement and customer service, to ensure seamless logistics.
- Manage equipment maintenance and ensure proper utilization of resources.
- Lead by example in maintaining a positive and productive work atmosphere.
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and supply chain management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and relevant software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively and drive performance.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in logistics or a related field is a plus.
