We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our busy warehouse in Chicago, Illinois. This role is essential for the efficient flow of goods through our facility, ensuring that materials are moved, organized, and prepared for shipment correctly. You will be responsible for operating various types of material handling equipment, managing inventory movement, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Move materials to and from designated storage areas.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all instructions for safe lifting and material handling.
- Support shipping and receiving activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operating certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent lifting of up to 60 lbs.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols.
- Knowledge of material handling equipment and logistics operations.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Dependable and punctual.
Safety is our top priority in this role. Proper use of PPE, including safety glasses and gloves, is required. Training on safe lifting techniques and equipment operation will be provided. This position is critical to our overall logistics chain.
