We are hiring a Material Handler in Durham, North Carolina, to play a key role in our distribution center's operations. This position is essential for the smooth movement and organization of materials, ensuring that our logistics network functions without interruption. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for accurately receiving, identifying, and transporting materials within the warehouse. This includes operating various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move items efficiently and safely. Your attention to detail will be critical in maintaining inventory accuracy and preparing goods for shipment or further processing. Safety is our top priority; therefore, all employees are required to strictly adhere to all safety protocols and wear the designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots. This role involves considerable physical activity, including frequent Lifting and moving of items that can weigh up to 50 lbs. We are seeking individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, and possess a strong work ethic. Previous experience in a warehouse environment or with material handling equipment is highly advantageous. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery safely and effectively.
- Load and unload materials from incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Identify and verify materials against shipping documents and inventory records.
- Assist in maintaining an organized and clean warehouse environment.
- Perform regular checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any defects.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE at all times.
- Participate in inventory counts and stocktaking activities.
- Support the logistics team with various operational tasks as directed.
- Contribute to a safe working culture and be vigilant for potential hazards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift operating license or certification is a significant advantage.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including consistent Lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
- Understanding of warehouse safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- A commitment to maintaining a high level of Safety in all operations.
