Our Medicine Hat shop is a tight-knit, professional service environment where apprentices are developed properly and treated with respect. You will work alongside experienced Journeypersons and Shop Foremen who are committed to mentorship, safety, and doing the job right the first time.
This is a clean, organized shop with strong processes, consistent workflow, and a team culture that values accountability, learning, and pride in workmanship.
Shop Hours & Schedule
Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Consistent weekday schedule
No rotating shifts
Evenings and weekends not required
The Role
Repair & Maintenance (Approx. 70%)
Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on heavy duty trucks and equipment
Assist with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs under the supervision of Journeypersons
Test vehicles to ensure safety and compliance standards are met
Work closely with Parts Technicians to ensure required parts are available
Diagnostics & Problem Solving (Approx. 20%)
Review work orders and repair concerns provided by Service Advisors
Support diagnostics on engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, and aftertreatment
Learn to interpret diagnostic results and contribute to efficient repair solutions
Reporting & Development (Approx. 10%)
Accurately document work performed and time spent on repairs
Participate in OEM training, in-house training, and apprenticeship development
Progress through apprenticeship levels with structured support
Education & Certification
Registered Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician
1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Year
Class 5 driver's license or higher required
Must have most tools required to perform the job
Previous heavy duty or related mechanical experience is an asset
