The Role
We are currently recruiting an experienced Utility Operator to run multiple pieces of heavy equipment on a greenfield pump station outside of Gordondale, BC. This will start in early March and preference will be given to BC locals.
Shift to TBD, 12 hours/day
Compensation/Benefits
Wages are based on experience.
Overtime at 1.5 x after 8 hours per day
Health, dental, vision, travel benefits (50/50 split) after 90 days.
10% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours worked
Weekly pay
Long term disability, AD&D, life insurance & dependent life Insurance after 90 days
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Excavator
Operate excavators safely and efficiently in heavy civil environments
Perform excavation, grading, trenching, finish grading, and earthmoving tasks to specifications
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance
Follow site plans, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions to meet project tolerances
Work collaboratively with ground crews and other operators to ensure safe and productive site operations
Assist with general labour or other equipment operation when required
Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practiced
Telehandler
Operate telehandler safety and efficiently to lift, move, position, and place materials at varying heights and distances
Conduct pre-operational checks and basic maintenance (fluids, tires, attachments)
Select and properly install approved attachments (forks, buckets, man baskets, etc.) as required
Interpret load charts and ensure lifts are within rated capacities
Communicate effectively and clearly with ground personnel
Follow site-specific safety procedures, lift plans and manufacturer operating guidelines
Maintain clear work zone and ensure safe travel paths
Assist with material staging, loading/unloading trucks and jobsite organization
Identify and report mechanical issues, hazards or unsafe conditions immediately
Work in coordination with other equipment operators, trades and supervisors
Comply with all company, client and regulatory safety standards
Skid Steer
Operate skid steer safely and efficiently on heavy civil construction projects
Perform material loading, grading, trench backfilling, and general site cleanup
Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance
Follow site traffic plans, signals, and radio communication protocols
Work closely with ground crews, equipment operators, and site supervisors
Assist with other labour or equipment tasks as required
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Excavator
Minimum 3 years of operation experience (civil earthworks preferred)
Proven experience as a finish grade operator with the ability to achieve precise tolerances
Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, compaction, and earthmoving practices
Ability to read and follow construction drawings, grade stakes, and GPS systems (asset)
Telehandler
Valid Telehandler/Forklift Certification
Previous experience operating telehandlers in construction, industrial or live-plant environments
Strong understanding of load charts and safe lifting practices
Physically capable of working in demanding environments
Excellent situational awareness and hazard recognition
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Mechanical aptitude for identifying equipment issues
Skid Steer
Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating skid steers in a construction environment
Understanding of safe operating techniques and equipment limitations
Ability to work in varying weather conditions and challenging terrain
Additional Requirements
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Must be clean shaven
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Must have the following safety tickets: WHMIS 2015, GD2, H2S Alive
