JJob Title: Python Test Software Developer
Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid – on-site Monday to Thursday)
Duration: 12-month contract (extension possible)
Language: Bilingual – French and English
Experience Level: 10+ years
Pay Rate: $52–$63/hour (T4)
Role Summary
The Python Test Software Developer will design, develop, test, integrate, and deploy Windows-based test software used to automate the testing of satellite hardware, including printed circuit boards, electronic units, and full payloads, within hardware-in-the-loop environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, code, test, debug, and document high-quality test software applications
Develop and modify Python applications for automated testing
Create software applications for electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) targeting satellite payloads
Read and understand detailed software and system requirements
Plan work, provide effort estimates, and drive tasks to completion
Participate in integration, testing, and deployment of software applications
Troubleshoot issues in development and production environments
Work within an agile development team using best practices
Prepare technical documentation and participate in reviews
Develop a strong understanding of the system under test
Required Skills & Experience
University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in test software development
Strong knowledge of Python and C++
Experience working with existing codebases
Knowledge of multi-threading, data sharing, and APIs
Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware-in-the-loop testing
Ability to interpret and work with complex software requirements
Experience with agile software development methodologies
Strong attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills in English and French
Nice-to-Have Assets
Exposure to DO-178 standards
Experience with automated functional testing and instrument control
Knowledge of CCSDS and MIL-STD-1553
Familiarity with CAN bus and SpaceWire protocols
Experience using JIRA and Confluence
Experience with GIT and Jenkins
