I'm looking for an experienced developer to help bring a Canadian weather forecast website to production. I already have a detailed technical spec and will be providing about 70-80% of the codebase (project structure, components, page templates, CMS config). I need someone to take it from there to a fully deployed, production-ready site.
Tech stack:
App Router, SSG/ISR)
- Tailwind CSS
- Payload CMS (self-hosted, for managing content like blog posts and location descriptions)
- Third-party weather API integration
- Vercel for frontend hosting
- MongoDB or PostgreSQL for Payload CMS backend
What I'll provide:
- Complete project scaffolding and folder structure
- Programmatic page templates for 100+ location pages
- API service layer with caching logic
- Payload CMS content models and configuration
- SEO components (meta tags, JSON-LD schema, sitemap generator)
- Tailwind UI layout and responsive components
What I need you to handle:
1. Review the codebase, clean up and optimize where needed
2. Deploy Payload CMS to Railway/Render with database setup
3. Connect weather API with proper error handling, rate limiting, and caching
4. Deploy frontend to Vercel, configure custom domain and DNS
5. Real-device testing — mobile responsiveness, Core Web Vitals, page speed optimization
6. Set up Google Analytics 4 and Search Console
7. Any bug fixes or adjustments needed to get everything production-ready
Before applying, please confirm:
- Have you built and deployed a site with SSG/ISR and 50+ programmatic pages?
- Have you worked with Payload CMS (or similar headless CMS like Strapi/Directus) including self-hosted deployment?
- Have you integrated third-party APIs with caching and error handling in a project?
- Can you share 1-2 examples of live sites you've built with a similar stack?
Domain name, full project spec, and codebase will be shared after selecting a candidate.
Timeline: Looking to have this live within 2 weeks of starting.
Contract duration of less than 1 month. with 30 hours per week.
