We're looking for an experienced Windows Server administrator to handle the server-side setup of a dotNET migration and configuration on AWS as part of this project. Work is expected to be completed within a few weeks.
What We Need
You'll be working alongside our team, who will handle AWS account setup and domain transfer. Your focus will be on the Windows Server and application hosting side:
- Provision and configure a Windows Server 2022 EC2 instance on AWS
- Install and configure the dotNET Hosting Bundle (version to be confirmed based on app requirements)
- Install and configure SQL Server Express, including migrating an existing database from the current environment
- Configure IIS to host the application under a custom domain, including SSL certificate setup
- Assist with connecting the application to AWS services (SES for email, S3 for file storage) via updated config files
- Ensure RDP access, Security Groups, and Windows Firewall are configured securely
- Set up basic backup routines (EBS snapshots, SQL Server backup jobs)
- Document all configuration decisions, service accounts, and setup steps
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience administering Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022
- Strong IIS experience, including hosting ASP dotNET and dotNET Core applications
- Comfortable with SQL Server Express setup and database migration including backup and restore
- Familiar with AWS EC2 Windows instances, Security Groups, and Elastic IPs
- Experience updating dotNET application config files such as web config and appsettings files
- SSL certificate installation experience via Lets Encrypt or similar tools
- Clear communicator who can work with a remote team and hand off clean documentation
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS SES SMTP configuration
- Familiarity with S3 SDK integration or IAM role configuration
