The Role

The Manager, Operations delivers operational advice, guidance, expertise and solutions to Vantage network airports to safeguard operational integrity, create value and ensure operational and guest service excellence.  The Manager, Operations will provide oversight of key regulatory programs with a focus on environmental and sustainability initiatives, safety management systems, and quality assurance programs. This position operates in a highly complex, multi-jurisdictional working environment composed of varying national aviation regulatory requirements and operating agreements.  

This role also has a significant focus on project management and delivery through support of Vantage's asset management program, assisting with new business and advisory services pursuits, delivering advisory contract scopes, and implementing integration/transition activities for new airports joining the Vantage network.

Responsibilities:

Environment and Sustainability Focus 

  • Lead the Networksites in the planning and management of all aspects related to the collection and tracking of emission data, as well as the review and validation of that data in coordination with Vantage's Impact Report framework for measuring results 
  • Support the development of the Impact Report annually, working closely with network locations, and other Vantage teams toensure effective delivery on the purpose of the report 
  • Develop and deliver an effective structure to shareboth Network and Industry best practices through the Environmental Working Group 
  • Develop and regularly update documentation related to ongoinginitiatives across the network, collaborating closely, and providing project management support to the sites as needed. 

General Operations and Administrative Support  

  • Supports the network to ensure all sitesoperate safely, efficiently and securely, complying with all international/national regulations, standards and policies while applying best practices in airport management. 
  • Works collaboratively to ensure the effective implementation of network-wide initiatives focused on regulatory compliance,innovation and operational and guest service excellence 
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes and draft briefing notes for executives
  • Provide operational regulatory support to network airports for airside, emergency, SMS, andSeMS programs 
  • Regularly report on network-wide operational risks, based on safety and security performance indicators and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in network airport emergency planning and contingency support for tabletops and live exercises
  • Supports the efficient operation of the network through effective maintenance management systems including preventative maintenance, environmental management, emergencyplanning and customer focused programs 
  • Liaise with civil aviation authorities and other stakeholder organizations.
  • Plan and lead network airport operational audits
  • Supports ensuring all operational manuals and site reporting systems, includingappropriate performance measurement tools, are up-to-date and are implemented as written 
  • Support Business Development activities as needed
  • Manage projects related to new airport integration and advisory service delivery
  • Assistnetwork airports in annual business planning and budgetary review processes 
  • Ensures the effective implementation of network-wide initiatives focused on regulatory compliance,innovation and operational and guest service excellence 
  • Develop operational best practice guidance documents for network airports use
  • Support network airport executive and management teams through mentorship and coaching of network operational professionals
  • Provide support to ORAT related activities such as planning, preparation, and implementation as 
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

Primary Qualifications:

Ideally, you hold an undergraduate university degree in environmental science or a related field. A Bachelor of Aviation or Airport Management is considered an asset.

You have a minimum of 5 years' work experience in environmental management in an airport or aviation-related environment.  In addition, the following are preferred qualifications:  

  • Knowledge ofCanadian Aviation Regulations, Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices, Canadian Aviation Security Regulations, and ICAO airport-related annexes/documents; Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, ACI Sustainability Strategy for Airports, FAA regulations and circulars, IATA standards, CATSA and TSA processes 
  • Knowledgeof and experience working with environmental management systems 
  • Ability to evaluate technical datato determine trends and detect potential issues including compliance with applicable regulations/standards 
  • Experience developing technical and non-technicaldocuments and presentations to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Experience developingand writing RFPs, business plans, policies, and procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and international best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; must be comfortable connecting and communicating with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and cross-functionally with impacted stakeholders
  • Demonstrated understanding of airport and aviation related statutory compliance and legislative requirements
  • Strongdata analysis skills, and diligence while at the same time understanding the broader strategic imperative 
  • Outstanding communicator with an ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner to diverse audiences both verbally and in written materials; comfortable in business and technical discussions
  • Meticulousand solutions driven initiative-taker who takes pride in developing and presenting high-quality, timely results  
  • Demonstrated ability tomanage competing priorities concurrently while not compromising on quality of analysis or output 
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, bring options,and provide recommendations 
  • Solutions-driven and a self-starter, who understands the importance of accuracy and timeliness, making a difference and contributing to the success of the business.

Primary Work Location - Remote or Hybrid located in Canada, with a preference for Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver
