Reason for Posting: The purpose of this job posting is to create an active bank of candidates for 4 months (February to May)

Job Term:  Temporary, full-time (35 hours per week) – June 2026 to August 2026

Eligibility: Open to post-secondary students with full-time status at a recognized educational institution and who are continuing their full-time studies in the fall.

The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), a national union representing over 80,000 professionals and scientists across Canada, is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Summer Students to join our team at our National Office in Ottawa, located at 250 Tremblay Road.

Summer employment opportunities may be available in the following areas:

What can I expect to do in this role?

Under the guidance of the respective Manager or Director, Summer Students will provide operational and project support within their assigned department and contribute to day-to-day activities and special initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities May Include:

  • Assisting with departmental projects and ongoing operational activities

  • Providing administrative and organizational support

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, communications, media, IT, EDIA, or administrative initiatives, as applicable

  • Preparing and formatting documents, presentations, and reports

  • Coordinating meetings, interviews, or events

  • Maintaining electronic filing systems and databases; performing data entry

  • Assisting with research, content development, technical support, or internal engagement activities, depending on the department

  • Responding to internal and external inquiries

  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience Requirements 

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program relevant to the area of interest (e.g., Information Technology, Human Resources, Communications, Social study, Administration, or a related field).

Eligibility:

  • Open to post-secondary students who are registered as full-time students at a recognized educational institution and who will be returning to full-time studies in the fall in a program related to their area of interest.

Language requirement:

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French / written and oral) is an asset.

Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision while being a strong team player

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks/activities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites

  • Experience in an office environment is considered an asset

  • Experience using technology and social media platform an asset
