What You'll Do
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Controller/Corporate Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic planning, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. Ideal for candidates pursuing CPA designation, this position offers hands-on experience with financial operations, exposure to strategic projects, and mentorship opportunities.
Vacancy Status: This is an active opening for a newly defined role, expanded to meet the demands of our growing operations. We are looking for a candidate to join the team as soon as possible.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Own the accuracy of financial data by preparing and posting journal entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain general ledger accuracy.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and deliver timely financial statements.
Analyze variances and present actionable insights to management for informed decision-making.
Manage CAPEX budgets and forecasting, ensuring compliance and guiding strategic investment decisions
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow
Assist in developing annual budgets in collaboration with cross functional teams
Monitor KPIs and collaborate on Actual vs Budget analysis with various cross functional teams to improve financial performance.
Support weekly cash flow analysis & forecast and provide recommendations for optimization.
Support in Optimizing cash flow through detailed analysis and strategic recommendations
Compliance & Audit
Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and ASPE standards.
Manage tax filings (HST) and regulatory reporting requirements.
Process Improvement & ERP Management
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Support ERP system optimization (CSB Systems) and ensure data integrity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Support
Partner with operational & executive teams to provide financial insights for decision-making.
Contribute to special projects, including cost-reduction initiatives and strategic planning.
Provide backup support for finance operations as needed.
Special projects or other duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1-2+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
CPA designation or active pursuit of certification is an asset.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with ERP system will be an asset.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
