Wood is currently recruiting for a Junior Civil Designer to join our Mining & Minerals group. Wood is currently looking to grow our team and are on the search for our next generation of brilliant. Reporting to the Department Manager, Civil, Structural & Architectural, this position is located in our #Vancouver, BC or our #Saskatoon, SK office. Competitive salary with regular salary reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the market. Salary range for this role is CAD $66,000 - $81,000 per year. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities
Work within a team of engineers, technologists and designers to complete projects and grow your skills in the Civil field
Assist in the preparation of contract and procurement packages
Develop engineering , drawings and documents in line with requirements relating to feasibility, standards, codes and the company's quality specifications
Co-ordination of drawing packages for issue and preparing issue folders for electronic files
Providing conceptual front end design to full detailed design and material take-offs for industrial and mining facilities
Work effectively with multiple project engineers, designers, leads, and managers
Ensure that elements of design, modelling, and detailing adhere to relevant jurisdictional codes
All other duties as assigned

Expected
Diploma in Civil Engineering Design Technology
Up to 5 years of relevant design experience relating to mining, industrial facilities and infrastructure within a consulting engineering environment is an asset
Understanding various coordinate systems and geodetic elevation references
Experience in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D design/drafting software
Experience with processing and modifying the topographic data, survey reference points, and coordinate systems.
Proficiency in the operation of GIS based applications would be an advantage
Proficient in MS Excel and Word
Excellent communication, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
Excellent organizational, technical, writing, communication and computer skills
Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
