We are looking for experienced full-stack developers to build a congressional/political trade tracking platform from scratch. We've identified an existing product in this space that we're very interested in and want to use as strong inspiration for both functionality and design. The reference app will be shared with selected candidates during the interview stage.
The platform allows users to track and analyze stock trades disclosed by U.S. Congress members, providing actionable insights for retail investors.
What We're Building
Core Platform (Web Application)
Politician Dashboard: Track trades of all 535 U.S. senators and representatives
Trade Feed: Real-time feed of newly disclosed congressional trades with filtering capabilities
Performance Analytics: Benchmarking individual politicians' trade performance against the S&P 500
Portfolio Tracking: Ability to follow and monitor multiple politicians' portfolios simultaneously
Sector Analysis: Visual breakdowns of where politicians invest most (by sector, industry)
Committee Insights: Cross-reference trades with politicians' committee assignments
Unusual Activity Detection: Algorithms to flag abnormal trading patterns or volume
Historical Data: Complete trade records since the 2012 STOCK Act
Mobile Applications (iOS + Android)
Native or cross-platform mobile apps mirroring the web experience
Push notifications for new trades, unusual activity, and weekly summaries
Smooth, modern UI/UX with dark mode support
Alert & Notification System
Real-time push notifications for new political trades
Weekly performance summary emails/notifications
Customizable alerts: filter by politician, party, state, committee, sector, or trade size
Unusual trading volume alerts
User System & Monetization
User authentication (email, social login)
Subscription/paywall system (free tier + premium tier)
Payment processing integration (Stripe or similar)
Multi-language support (English + Dutch at minimum)
Technical Requirements
Must-Have Skills
Frontend: React / (web) + React Native or Flutter (mobile)
Backend: or Python (FastAPI/Django)
Database: PostgreSQL or similar relational DB
Data Pipeline: Experience scraping/ingesting government disclosure data (SEC EDGAR, Senate/House financial disclosures)
APIs: RESTful API design, third-party stock market API integration
DevOps: Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Payment Integration: Stripe or similar subscription billing
Nice-to-Have
Experience with financial data platforms or fintech products
Background in data visualization (charts, graphs, dashboards)
Knowledge of the STOCK Act and congressional disclosure requirements
Experience building SaaS products with subscription models
SEO and performance optimization
