First Descents (FD) is a nonprofit that provides life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults (ages impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. The Program Coordinator will work in close coordination with the Programs Team to play a key role in the logistical setup and execution of all FD's programs. 

As a key point of contact within our community, it is imperative that the Program Coordinator is passionate about our mission and demonstrates our commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in the outdoor and healthcare spaces.

This is a hybrid position based in Denver, Colorado with the requirement to be in the office two days per week, and any additional time required to complete tasks in person. The Program Coordinator will report to the Senior Program Manager.

 

Responsibilities: 

Program Planning & Delivery: 

  • Collect detailed partner information through email and phone communication, utilizing our CRM system (Salesforce)
  • Organize program location information in a presentable and evergreen format, including details about emergency services, potential activity deterrents, and adaptability capabilities 
  • Oversee pre-program communication between Field Staff, volunteers, and partners; send pre-program emails and host pre-program planning calls with all parties
  • Manage inventory, create shipping schedules, and execute delivery of program boxes, including all paperwork and general supplies for each program 
  • Oversee documentation collection and debriefs from partners, including Emergency Response Plans and Insurance Certificates 
  • Book all rental vehicles and other internal transportation needs
  • Review and respond to field-based documentation and escalate accordingly; aid in ensuring feedback is addressed, collated, and learnings are applied
  • Support in the execution of routine research initiatives for existing and prospective program locations, staying attuned to emerging opportunities for collaborations
  • Work with community members to plan successful Community Adventures (CA), aiding in logistical prep work, conducting phone calls, and shipping all related materials in support of CAs 
  • Aid in building out the program webpages and marketing approval project on an ongoing basis 
  • Serve as contingency Field Staff and willingly respond to staffing needs, as needed
  • Cover the Programs Hotline (internal during the week and after-hours phone line), as assigned, during the Programs Season, April - October

  • Demonstrated ability in conducting professional discussions and collaboratively finding solutions with key stakeholders, fostering effective communication and mutual understanding
  • Ability to effectively address and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Basic understanding of working with data and project management systems and/or willingness to learn. Familiarity with Salesforce is a bonus
  • Strong attention to detail and  highly organized
  • Self-motivated and eager to jump into projects (put another way, you're a problem solver)
  • Energetic and enjoy engaging with staff, partners, and vendors
  • Wilderness First Aid certificate is preferred, but not required
  • Committed to advancing FDs' JEDI goals
  • Representative of FD's Core Values & Code of Conduct
  • Strong passion for FD's mission and support for its long-term vision and goals

    Inside Details:

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position based at our headquarters in Denver, CO. The position will be a hybrid of office/remote work with the expectation of being in the office two days per week. There may be a few times throughout the year where you are asked to work nights or weekends.

    The compensation range for this position is $21.85 to $25.45 per hour.
