We're Hiring: Technologist, Survey (Permanent, Full-Time)
Location: Aurum – Edmonton, Alberta
We're currently recruiting for up to two (2) full-time permanent Technologist, Survey positions based out of our Aurum location.

About the Role
As a Technologist, Survey, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate survey and locate results for both internal and external stakeholders. You'll also play a key role in supporting the training of new team members.
This position involves working on a variety of worksite projects, ranging from short-term assignments to multi-month engagements. Safety and efficiency are central to everything we do.
What You'd Be Responsible For
Position Summary
Reporting to the Survey Manager, this role supports the delivery of accurate and timely survey data to internal stakeholders, including Design and Project Management teams. The successful candidate will contribute to survey planning, perform field data collection, and ensure results are properly recorded in the GIS system.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in survey planning and maintain effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Collect and report asset location data to support design and project execution.
- Ensure survey data and locates are accurate, timely, and properly entered into the GIS system.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain survey equipment.
- Flag and report unusual locate results to the Team Lead and relevant stakeholders.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain current certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, defensive driving).
- Adhere to EPCOR policies and standards, including safety, ethics, and respectful workplace guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Survey Lead.

What You Bring to the Role
- A two-year diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying and Geospatial Technology or a related discipline from a recognized technical institute.
- Up to three years of directly related field experience.
- Hands-on experience with survey calculations and the use of survey tools and equipment.
- Proficiency with survey instruments including RTK-GPS, Total Station, and Levels.
- Solid understanding of survey theory, calculations, and Coordinate Geometry (COGO).
- Foundational drafting skills using software such as MicroStation, MicroSurvey, or AutoCAD.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and work sites.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences and stakeholders.

Wage: starting at $41.52
- Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement that may be found online.
Hours of work: 80 hours bi-weekly Monday to Friday

- A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
- If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.
- A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
- To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
- Prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file.
