Job Description:

As a key member of the Production Control Department, the Logistics Assistant is responsible for preparing loads and shipment and facilitating shipping utilizing an EDI system and customer portals to meet customer demands promptly. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Faciliate the shipping of products using EDI systems and customer portals as required
  • Prepare loads for shipment 
  • Take steps to avoid quality control issues 
  • Manage activities throughout the order fulfillment and transportation cycle to make sure established deadlines are met 
  • Streamline shipping and transportation processes
  • Maintain 5S
  • Assist with other projects within the company as assigned 
  • Other Production Control duties as required 
  • Material Handler interaction and communication 

Qualifications: 

  • 1+ year proven experience in a logistics/similar role or equivalent internal testing and/or demonstrated work experience, including overseas shipments
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements 
  • Computer-savvy with working knowledge of logistics software/SAP
  • Strong knowledge of MS office applications 
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work 
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide range of office/plant team members, management, senior executives and external parties 
  • Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility 
  • Outstanding organization, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Intuitive, able to anticipate needs and response with a sense of urgency
  • Action-orientated, flexible, dedicated and committed
