The Senior Design Engineer will play a key role in the Electrical design and technical delivery of control panels, MCCs, and automation systems. The role involves leading complex design activities, ensuring compliance with standards, supporting manufacturing and commissioning, and mentoring design engineers and junior engineers. The Senior Design Engineer will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure technically robust, compliant, and cost-effective solutions are delivered.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development of electrical design and software of control panels, MCCs and automation systems from concept through to manufacture. Responsible for verifying designs through thorough testing regimes of the built equipment. Produce and review detailed electrical schematics, layouts and wiring diagrams. Ensure designs meet client specifications, functional requirements and operational safety standards. Select and specify electrical components in line with performance, compliance, and cost objectives. Ensure activities and outputs are achieved within budget and programme restraints. Work with the design engineering manager to improve design standards, templates, and processes
Requirements:
Degree, HNC, or HND in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline (or equivalent by experience). Strong working knowledge of BS EN (phone number removed):2021 and associated LV ssembly standards. Formal training or proven competence in electrical design of control panels and MCCs Health & Safety awareness training relevant to electrical design and manufacturing environments Postgraduate qualification or advanced training in electrical power, automation, or systems engineering. Electrical CAD certification or advanced user capability (e.g. EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, Promis.E). Manufacturer or industry training on MCC systems, intelligent motor control, or automation platforms. Project or engineering management qualification (e.g. APMP, PRINCE2 Foundation).
