About the Role
We're building a Voice AI platform that lets businesses deploy AI-powered phone agents with real-time appointment booking, CRM integration, and call management. The core product is built and functional. We need a seasoned developer to step in as a technical partner — reviewing code, guiding architecture decisions, cleaning up technical debt, and eventually taking the platform from working prototype to production-ready MVP serving a few hundred users.
This starts as a lightweight advisory/code-review role and grows into hands-on development work.
What You'll Do
Review the existing codebase and identify critical technical debt, security gaps, and scalability concerns
Advise on architecture and implementation decisions during weekly check-ins
Help debug and resolve issues that go beyond what AI coding tools can handle
Gradually take ownership of hardening the platform — error handling, edge cases, database optimization, API reliability
Prepare the infrastructure and code for production use at scale (hundreds of concurrent users)
Integrate and maintain third-party API connections (telephony, CRM, calendar systems)

AI/LLM: OpenAI, Retell AI SDK
What We're Looking For
Strong proficiency in TypeScript, , and React
Experience working with and cleaning up technical debt in real codebases (not just greenfield projects)
Solid understanding of REST API design, webhook architectures, and third-party API integration
Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, etc.) and understanding their strengths and limitations
Experience preparing early-stage software for production — auth hardening, error boundaries, logging, monitoring, rate limiting
Comfortable with Supabase or similar BaaS/PostgreSQL setups
Voice AI or telephony API experience is a strong plus (Retell AI, Twilio, Vonage, etc.)
Ability to communicate clearly and explain technical tradeoffs to a non-traditional technical founder
Nice to Have
Experience with Vercel deployment, edge functions, and serverless architecture
Familiarity with GoHighLevel or similar CRM platforms
Background in scaling SaaS products from MVP to early traction (0 → hundreds of users)
Understanding of real-time communication protocols (WebSockets, WebRTC)
How This Works
Phase 1 (now): A few hours per week. Get familiar with the codebase, flag issues, guide decisions, help with blockers. Mostly async with a weekly sync call.
Phase 2 (once scope is clear): Take on focused development sprints to resolve technical debt and get the platform production-ready.
Compensation is hourly and negotiable based on experience. This is a great fit for a senior developer who enjoys mentoring, likes working on early-stage products, and wants flexible part-time work with room to grow.
