Job Description Position Title: Core Network Engineer
Base Salary:
$75,000 to $125,000 annually DOE

Job Summary
The Core Network Engineer will provide network device maintenance and implementation to our service provider backbone and customer aggregation network. This role will serve as an escalation point for network issues, as well as provisioning customer services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee and not intended to reflect all duties performed.
Network Operations & Troubleshooting • Handle escalated trouble calls. • Work closely with the NOC, deployment engineers, and carriers to resolve network issues. • Work with Network Operations personnel to hand-off newly deployed equipment and customer services for ongoing surveillance and management. • Perform maintenance on network equipment when needed. • Ensure all network procedures and policies are followed. • Ensure all site records are updated and accurate.
Network Engineering, Design & Provisioning • Work with systems engineering to automate as many networks provisioning and turn up tasks as possible. • Perform installation and integration of backbone equipment in network. • Provide detailed equipment, installation specifications and drawings. • Work with DWDM engineering team to make sure capacity is provisioned as needed to ensure a congestion free and fully protected IP network. • Design and provision network services for customers. • Support Network Engineering, Network deployment and Service Architecture needs across the shared backbone infrastructure. • Coordinate network parts inventory.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support • Interface with key network partners. • Attend various meetings with management, other departments, and vendors to ensure company objectives are met. • Participate in inter-departmental planning meetings to coordinate and communicate activities related to the successful completion of projects.
Other Duties • Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization
Required Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED. • Experience provisioning or commissioning telecommunications network elements such as routers, switches, DSLAMs, PON, TDM, VOIP, DWDM • Experience with BGP/OSFP and MPLS LDP/TE • Experience with various equipment assets and circuit inventory systems •• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record. • Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications: • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines, white papers, and configuration manuals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations. • Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines. • Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills. • Ability to work within critical deadlines. • Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and schedules. • Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Work Environment
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work is primarily a modern office setting.
