The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) is hiring for entry-level law enforcement officers to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Patrol international borders, coastal waterways, and highways to detect and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of contraband.
- Maintain surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations.
- Interpret physical evidence of illegal entry, inspect documents, and examine possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
The following qualifications are required:
Education: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge,
make sound decisions, maintain composure in stressful situations, learn regulations methods techniques through classroom training/or on-the-job instruction,& gather concise information through questioning observation/examination of documents/records.&
The salary range varies per grade level GL-5/GL-7 with annual base salaries ranging $49 739 - $89 518 . Additionally BPA may be eligible for up to 25 % additional pay according the Pay Reform Act. A career ladder position offers advancement opportunities along the progression GS-11 /GS12 with eligibility promotions after completing each grade level.
