Job Description
- To enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO), you will be responsible for facilitating legitimate trade and travel while deterring illegal activities. Your duties may include conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances, determining admissibility of individuals entering the United States, preventing smuggling of contraband goods including drugs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A minimum one-year experience in law enforcement or a related field is required to qualify at the GS-9 grade level. This includes expertise in enforcing federal regulations relating to importing/exporting merchandise; utilizing intelligence techniques to identify potential threats; interviewing suspects using proper law enforcement methods; making rapid judgments regarding import/export procedures.
The ability to think critically under pressure is essential. Experience must also demonstrate application knowledge specifically with respect to border security matters including use/detection/tracking analytical tools used in apprehending violators.
