The company aims to fundamentally change the economics behind current recycled materials through advanced processing and materials technologies.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Business Development Manager to to support market expansion and partnership development. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, with a focus on identifying new commercial opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and supporting long-term growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with technical, leadership, and external stakeholders to translate Sixone's capabilities into compelling commercial and funding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, pitch, and secure strategic partnerships across the plastics, textiles, and sustainability ecosystem. Own the partnership lifecycle from initial outreach through contract negotiation and onboarding.
Lead grant identification and application efforts, including researching funding opportunities, preparing submissions, and coordinating internal technical inputs to support successful awards.
Manage prospecting, meetings, proposals, and negotiations for new business opportunities.
Maintain structured tracking of leads, opportunities, and partner interactions.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop clear, credible marketing and pitch materials. Represent Sixone in customer meetings and partner discussions, translating complex technical concepts into clear value propositions.
Monitor industry trends, customer needs, and competitive activity. Provide insights that inform commercial strategy and prioritization.
Represent Sixone at conferences, industry events, and partner meetings across Canada and the United States.
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
2–4+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical teams, senior executives, partners, and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage complex B2B sales or partnership discussions, including prospecting, negotiations, and relationship management.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to track opportunities, maintain clear records, and manage a structured pipeline.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment, managing ambiguity, shifting priorities, and high levels of autonomy.
Strategic mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Passion for sustainability, circular economy principles, and technologies that enable meaningful environmental impact.
Legally entitled to work in Canada, with the ability to travel to the United States for meetings and industry events.
