As an Awake Overnight Program Support Worker, you provide a safe and dignified environment for women navigating the complexities of poverty, mental health, and addictions. This role exists to ensure 24/7 continuity of care, providing a steady presence for residents. Working from a trauma-informed lens, you deliver basic needs, emotional support and maintain the overnight program operations. Your impact is found in the trust you build and the stability you maintain, ensuring every woman feels secure and respected. Reporting to the Program Manager, you bridge the gap between evening and morning services, ensuring that residents feel seen, heard and supported 24/7.
We are currently hiring for a Saturday & Sunday overnight position.

What You'll Do
Provide access to food and hygiene supplies for emergency bed program residents
Use trauma-informed approaches to assist residents with daily living goals and conflict resolutions
Support clients in following their self-identified goals and transition plans, providing encouragement and reminders of progress
Deliver non-judgmental support for residents struggling with active substance use, including distribution of safe use supplies, and monitoring for signs of safety including wellness checks
Ensure clients have access to medications and prescriptions as needed during the night
Maintain a consistent, awake presence throughout the shift, conducting regular floor rounds to ensure the security and well-being of all residents
Use verbal de-escalation techniques and a calm, grounded approach to managing behavioral crises, interpersonal conflicts, or emotional distress
Work in close partnership with on-site security personnel to manage safety concerns or high-risk situations providing clear directions to security to ensure interventions remain trauma-informed and client-centered
Act as the first responder for medical emergencies, including the administration of Naloxone and performing CPR/First Aid as required until emergency medical services arrive
Continually monitors the milieu for potential safety hazards or shifts in the environment that could trigger clients, taking proactive steps to mitigate risks
Detailed documentation of all safety-related incidents, ensuring that critical information is communicated to the leadership team and that a "warm hand off" occurs for morning staff
Maintain precise, objective, and confidential shift logs, and client case notes, ensuring all interactions are documented in alignment with organizational standards and privacy legislation
Qualifications
Minimum of a certificate or diploma in a related social service field (i.e., Human Services, Community Support Worker) is preferred but may be substituted with equivalent experience
At least one year working in a frontline capacity with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use
Standard First Aid/CPR must be current and valid
Training in overdose recognition and the administration of Naloxone
Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Applied Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST) are required within 3 months of hire

A foundational understanding of how trauma impacts behavior and a commitment to interacting with clients in a way that avoids re-traumatization
A non-judgmental, empathetic attitude that prioritizes the self-determination and respect of every woman in the program
A high degree of personal responsibility and punctuality, recognizing that the safety of the program depends on a consistent staff presence
