We are a boutique, elite technology services firm seeking a world-class Principal Analytics Engineer. This is a high-leverage leadership role for an expert who can architect the entire data lifecycle: from the precision of client-side and server-side data collection to complex data modeling, autonomous infrastructure design, and the delivery of "CTO-level" strategic insights.
About The Role
As a Principal Analytics Engineer, you are the technical cornerstone of our data practice. You aren't just building reports; you are designing the systems that define what is measured and how that data flows from a user's click into a strategic business insight.
You will operate with complete autonomy, bridging the gap between raw engineering, system architecture, and business intelligence. You are expected to be a "force multiplier," proactively identifying opportunities to improve our technical standards, authoring detailed technical specifications, and unblocking the team through architectural clarity.
Core Responsibilities
Data Collection Architecture: Design and implement sophisticated, resilient data collection strategies using client-side and server-side Google Tag Manager (sGTM), Segment, or similar event-tracking frameworks.
System & Infrastructure Design: Architect and manage the modern data stack (warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and orchestration layers). This includes designing custom API-based data extraction and load (ELT) processes for platforms where native connectors are insufficient.
Strategic Data Modeling: Own the "what and how" of measurement. Design scalable data models (e.g., dbt) that transform raw event data into clean, performant tables optimized for enterprise-level analysis.
Agentic Workflows: Implement and manage agentic development patterns, leveraging AI agents and LLMs to automate data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, and self-healing data pipelines.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Author high-fidelity technical specs and groom tickets before they reach the development phase. You are the final escalation point for the team's most complex data challenges.
Consultative Strategy: Provide "CTO-style" consulting to clients, helping them define KPIs that align with their business objectives and providing strategic roadmaps for their data maturity.
What We're Looking For (Requirements)
We are looking for a technical authority who possesses a deep, holistic understanding of the data journey and operates with extreme ownership.
Technical Mastery
Fullstack Data Fluency: Demonstrated mastery of the entire data pipeline—from server-side tagging (sGTM) and client-side tracking to custom REST/GraphQL API integrations and SQL-based modeling.
Agentic Development: Proficiency with agentic development principles, including the integration of AI agents and autonomous workflows into production environments to accelerate delivery and enhance analysis quality.
Advanced Data Modeling: Expert-level SQL skills and experience with modern modeling tools (like dbt) to create clean, documented, and tested data layers.
Infrastructure Expertise: Experience designing and maintaining cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.) and the associated infrastructure.
BI Tool Mastery: Proven ability to build sophisticated, user-friendly dashboards in Metabase, Looker, or similar BI platforms.
Measurement Strategy: Deep understanding of digital marketing and product analytics, including attribution modeling, event taxonomies, and funnel analysis.
