Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Global Reconciliation Services will manage and lead a team who are responsible for managing high risk processes for a portfolio of assigned GL Reconciliation and Attestation activities for the assigned Platform(s). This position is responsible for maintaining relationships with business partners and clients, managing the work performed by the team and meeting established service standards (i.e. Client Service Commitments, KPI). The Manager is also accountable for enhancing service offerings through continuous improvement, reporting processes, and enabling team performance.

What will do you?

  • Develop and implement processes and routines to ensure the delivery of high-quality service to our business partners and clients, including proactive issue identification, resolution of issues, and achievement of service levels
  • Develop and implement open and clear lines of communication with our service and business partners, including the creation of regular updates, check-ins and progress reports
  • Develop and reinforce a continuous improvement mindset in the team through effective coaching and development routines focused on efficiency and effectiveness enhancements
  • Oversee execution of reconciliation and attestation activities, ensuring adherence to GL Attestation Policy and that appropriate supporting documentation exists
  • Partner with Platform Finance or other business partners and advise them on structuring reconciliation processes around new lines of business and the impact to reconciliations of changes to existing lines of business
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and mitigate risks related to processes, partnering with FSS Transformation and Operational Excellence and business partners to develop strategic roadmaps for transformation initiatives and onboarding activities for new business, setting priority and focus to expedite initiatives
  • Take ownership of escalated issues as a priority, ensuring resolution at source and working with the team to complete cause and effect analysis, ensuring gap mitigation plans are implemented
  • Helps individuals and teams achieve high performance through effective coaching, performance management and through building capability
  • Drives superior results by aligning people's efforts with our vision, values, strategic direction and how we make money; helping employees to focus on what truly matters most
  • Strengthens relationships and partnerships by engaging employees, communicating effectively and enabling collaboration.
  • Lead individuals and teams through the implementation of change, with effective communication, coaching, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ensures adherence to all relevant policies such as Enterprise General Ledger Attestation Policy, RBC Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy, SLAs and GRS operational controls.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • University degree, accounting designation required
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, finance and/or management experience in a banking environment
  • Strong knowledge of the operational processes of GL reconciliation and controls
  • Strong knowledge of accounting
  • Solid knowledge of all Regulatory and Compliance rules as follows
    • External/Internal Audit reviews
    • SOX
    • Enterprise GL Attestation Policy
  • Sense of urgency, ability to handle multiple demands amidst submission deadlines
  • Previous people management experience
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
