Parts Specialist

Full-Time

Brampton, ON (On-site)

The Parts Specialist is responsible for controlling the inventory levels of parts within the Maintenance Department. This role is about providing excellent internal customer service through the collaboration with other members of the Maintenance Department to resolve inquiries and accurately process parts orders. This includes proactively monitoring inventory levels, ensuring parts inventory is adequately managed to efficiently meet the requirements of the Trailer Technicians.

How You'll Help:

  • Proactively control parts inventory levels by ensuring knowledge of parts and understanding of departmental requirements remain current.
  • Work with technicians / corporate facility and use established procedures to ensure accurate and efficient ordering of parts and reduce delivery delays.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to technicians' requests and inquiries regarding parts and account information.
  • Handle shipping & receiving of service products and shipments.
  • Process and deliver internal part requests.
  • Perform cycle counts and stockroom inventory audits. Ensure counts and movement of parts are accurate.
  • Stock and restock parts in stockroom and prepare inventory and reconciliation reports.
  • Provide positive, effective and professional customer service and support through conversation in person and over the telephone.
  • Participate in daily, weekly and monthly meetings to review work goals to exceed customer expectations.
  • Carry out individual tasks and goals with clear directives and the boldness to ask questions when further direction is needed.
  • Work positively and effectively with all team members locally and at corporate facility.
  • Follow safe work practices and accident prevention procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of secondary education
  • Training or instruction in mechanical maintenance or repair is preferred.
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in mechanical shop, maintenance or operational environment, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Occupational Health & Safety Training a strong asset.
  • Communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer skills – accuracy, MS products, web based programs.
  • Collaboration skills - Must be a team player and a self-starter to carry out tasks and goals with clear directives and the boldness to ask questions when further direction.
  • Able to work deadlines in high transactional, high speed environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work as required.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements in a shop environment and ability to uphold a strong safety culture.
