The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) is the industry-funded regulator responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
The Communications & Investor Education division provides strategic communications advice and support to all areas of the ASC in a manner that encourages a fair and efficient capital market and meets the ASC's organizational objectives. The division's award-winning website, materials and ongoing consumer education are focused on providing Albertans with relevant information about investing and how they can protect themselves from securities fraud.
The opportunityThe successful candidate will be fully immersed in our team's daily activities (internal communications, media relations, digital communication, investor and industry education and stakeholder engagement), helping to promote relevant and timely information to support intelligent securities regulation and investor protection in Alberta and throughout Canada.
Key responsibilities include- Assisting with writing and editing blog posts, press releases, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Creating and curating engaging content for internal communications (eg.; organizational materials, invites and intranet updates).
- Supporting the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns.
- Monitoring social media channels for engagement, trends and relevant content.
- Assisting in the planning, coordination and promotion of internal and external events.
- Assisting with media outreach and monitoring.
- Assisting with creating and distributing daily clippings.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marking tools.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Excellent Communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Detail-oriented and have proven computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc).
- Experience within a professional environment that prioritizes confidentiality, problem-solving and adaptability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
