A Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) is a highly skilled professional responsible for protecting America's borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. This role involves enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.
This position requires exceptional analytical skills to identify potential threats and perform risk assessments. The CBPO will conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances, determine admissibility for entry into the United States, prevent illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods, as well as detect smuggling activities.
- Typical assignments include:
- Enforcing customs laws by conducting interviews with travelers.
- Conducting cargo/baggage examinations at airports or ports of entry.
