The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Field Operations component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection provides law enforcement support at ports of entry along America's land border with Canada, as well as sea ports in Alaska, Puerto Rico and Guam. The CBPO works under close supervision or independently performs duties such as conducting inspections of individuals attempting entry into the United States; enforcing customs laws regarding merchandise being imported or exported; determining admissibility of arriving aliens; investigating persons suspected of violating customs laws involving drugs smuggling offenses and other smuggled contraband violations;
