Job Description

Border Patrol Agents protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offers this opportunity to work with an elite team of highly trained professionals.


Typical Assignments:

  • Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws

  • Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations

  • Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near the borders

  • Maintaining surveillance from covert positions using infrared scopes during night operations
Required Skills & Qualifications:

To qualify for a position as a GL-5 grade level BPA candidate must have one year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions in stressful situations, learn regulations through classroom training/or on-the-job instruction.
