Opportunity
UJET is searching for a Data Engineer to join our growing Engineering team! The ideal candidate is a
Data Engineer with strong software engineering experience
to build and operate scalable, reliable data systems. You will work closely with backend, product, and analytics teams to enable data-driven decision making and power production features.
Our data stack includes
BigQuery, dbt (dbt Labs), Python, and Looker , running on
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) . Experience with
Ruby (or Ruby on Rails)
and GCP services is a strong advantage.
Responsibilities : Design, build, and maintain
scalable data pipelines
using Python and dbt Develop and optimize
BigQuery data models
for analytics and product use cases Implement
ELT workflows
and enforce best practices in dbt (testing, documentation, versioning) Collaborate with analytics and finance teams to enable
trusted metrics and dashboards
in Looker Integrate data workflows with
backend services and APIs Ensure
data quality, reliability, and observability Optimize performance and cost across BigQuery and data pipelines Participate in system design, code reviews, and architectural decisions Support experimentation, reporting, and advanced analytics use cases Requirements
3+ years of experience as a
Data Engineer or Software Engineer working with data Strong programming skills in
Python Solid experience with
SQL
and analytical data modeling Hands-on experience with
BigQuery Production experience with
dbt (dbt Labs) Experience building and maintaining
analytics-ready datasets Strong software engineering fundamentals (testing, version control, code reviews) Preferred Skills
Experience with
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
services (e.g., Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Composer) Experience with
Looker
(LookML, semantic modeling, dashboards) Background in
backend or platform engineering Experience with
Ruby or Ruby on Rails Familiarity with
CI/CD pipelines
and infrastructure as code Experience with
streaming or event-based architectures Annual US Hiring Range: $140,000 - $165,000 (negotiable based on exceptionally qualified candidates)
