Position OverviewThe Adult and Older Adult Program Coordinator is a community-facing role that supports a broad range of adult programming at the JCC, including our well-established and vibrant 55+ offerings. With a strong foundation in coordination, administration, and participant support, the Coordinator ensures the smooth delivery of programs that foster learning, wellness, cultural engagement, and meaningful community connection.
In addition to supporting existing adult and older adult programs, this role contributes to the growth and evolution of adult programming across the JCC. Working collaboratively with colleagues across departments, the Coordinator helps strengthen participant experience, build relationships, and identify opportunities to innovate in response to community interests—particularly in Jewish culture, arts, and lifelong learning.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Coordination & Administration
Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and logistics of adult programs, including well-established 55+ offerings and emerging adult initiatives
Support primarily on-site programming, with some off-site programs or outings as appropriate
Manage registrations, attendance tracking, calendars, and basic reporting
Provide administrative support including contracts, room bookings, supplies, and program documentation
Participate in staff meetings, department leadership team meetings, and other meetings as required
Program Promotion & Participation Building
Promote adult programs and actively encourage participation among JCC members and the broader community
Build awareness and momentum for programs through outreach, relationship-building, and collaboration with other departments
Facilitate and organize interest-based and learning groups that foster ongoing engagement and connection
Support the growth and sustainability of programs by responding to participant interests and feedback
Participant & Member Engagement
Serve as a primary point of contact for adult and older adult participants and JCC members
Provide welcoming, responsive, and respectful support, particularly for older adults
Foster inclusive, accessible, and relationship-centred program environments
Support participant well-being, accessibility needs, and positive group dynamics
Drive growth of program attendance and participant engagement
Instructor & Facilitator Management
Coordinate and support instructors, facilitators, and speakers
Ensure instructors meet JCC requirements, including appropriate insurance coverage and documentation
Provide orientation and ongoing support to instructors, ensuring alignment with JCC values, policies, and procedures
Ensure compliance with employment standards, safety protocols, and JCC policies
Occasionally (or as qualified) facilitate programs directly
Program Development & Innovation
Support the development and launch of new adult programs, from concept through implementation
Collaborate with colleagues to refresh and evolve existing programs so they remain relevant, engaging, and responsive to community needs
Bring curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to test new ideas when responding to emerging trends and interests
Gather and incorporate participant feedback to support continuous improvement and program growth
Identify, contribute to, and write grant proposals and reports for programs related to the Adult and Older Adult department
Collaboration & Cross-Departmental Work
Work closely with departments including Inclusion, fitness, Jewish programming, library, Jewish Book Festival, gallery, sports, aquatics, and other cultural and community initiatives
Contribute to cross-departmental, intergenerational, and community-wide programs and events
Support special initiatives, pilot projects, and new programs as needed
Required
Post-secondary education in community development, social work, recreation, education, gerontology, arts administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience coordinating programs or services in a community-based, non-profit, cultural, or social service environment
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with comfort supporting participants directly
Ability to work collaboratively across teams while taking initiative and ownership of responsibilities
Must clear a criminal record check for working with vulnerable persons as a condition of employment.
Assets
Knowledge of Jewish culture, holidays, and community life, or a strong interest and openness to learning
Experience working with adults and/or older adults
Interest in arts, culture, lifelong learning, and community engagement
Comfort working in an evolving environment and contributing to new ideas or pilot programs
Experience supporting inclusive, accessible, or equity-focused programming
