Description

The role of the Satellite Team Lead on QSET is to act as the leader of the team. The team lead is responsible for defining and executing team wide objectives that ensure the financial well-being of the team and the general well-being of all members. Throughout the year, the team lead's focus should be on developing a positive culture through regular engagement with all levels of the team, team building activities, and the continual collection of member feedback. The team lead must be able to gauge the status of the team to determine what actions need to be taken within the team to address issues. It is also the team lead's responsibility to ensure that everyone is aware of their responsibilities early in the year, and that everyone has the resources required to perform their duties throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Set milestones and help CTO and Managers define priorities throughout the year.
• Keep the team on schedule and on budget.
• Keep the team aware of both short and long-term goals.
• Be responsible for ensuring the team has the necessary resources.
• Hold Satellite executive meetings and attend chair general executive meetings as required throughout the year.
• Be satellite's representative to the Engineering Society, Queen's University, the competition hosts, and any other external organizations.
• Ensure satellite members are motivated and work in a positive/inclusive environment.
• Periodically assess team progress, the outlook of members, and how each member views their contribution to the team.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience on QSET's satellite team.
• Understanding of satellite systems and operations. This may include understanding of orbits, payload scheduling, ground station operations, and the effects of the space environment.
• Present capabilities of project management, use of project management tools, and leadership skills.
