Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time/permanent Laundry Manager to work closely with the Regional General Manager. The Laundry Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable service delivery to all internal properties; manages labour, supplies, and operating costs; upholds linen quality and turnaround standards; and builds the people, processes, and capacity required to scale as the portfolio grows.

Wage: $55, $60,000.00

Key Responsibilities
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & CULTURE
Standard: Build a high‑performance, safety‑first team that reliably meets service levels while living the Basecamp brand and values.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop laundry staff; set clear expectations and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Design and maintain an effective staffing model (day/evening/overnight) aligned to demand and budget.
- Lead scheduling, time/attendance oversight, and labour management, including OT approvals within budget.
- Uphold policies and procedures consistently; address performance and conduct issues promptly and fairly.
- Champion engagement, recognition, and a respectful workplace.
OPERATIONS & PRODUCTION
Standard: Deliver consistent, efficient production that meets internal customer needs for speed, quality, and reliability.
- Plan daily/weekly production, balancing capacity, turnaround targets, and quality standards.
- Optimize workflows for a manual environment (loading/unloading, drying, stain treatment, folding, staging).
- Monitor throughput, backlogs, and bottlenecks; reallocate labour and re-sequence work as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and SOPs for all key processes.
QUALITY & SERVICE DELIVERY
Standard: Achieve and maintain linen quality standards with minimal rewash, loss, or damage while providing responsive service to hotels and spas.
- Set and enforce linen quality criteria by product type (sheets, terry, robes, spa).
- Track and reduce rewash rates; implement corrective actions for chemical, soil, or process issues.
- Minimize lost/damaged items through effective handling, counting, and reconciliation practices.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal GMs/Housekeeping/Spa leaders; resolve service issues quickly.
HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
Standard: Operate a safe, compliant facility that meets or exceeds all workplace and environmental requirements.
- Lead WHMIS, PPE usage, safe work practices, and incident reporting; conduct regular safety huddles.
- Keep the facility clean, organized, and hazard‑free; enforce lockout/tagout and safe equipment use.
- Coordinate training and records to meet Alberta OHS and company standards.
INVENTORY, COST CONTROL & ASSET STEWARDSHIP
Standard: Control labour and supply costs while ensuring materials availability and asset longevity.
- Manage inventory for linens, chemicals, and consumables; maintain accurate counts and reorder points.
- Control spend on chemicals/supplies and track labour hours/OT against budget.
- Track linen loss/damage and drive reduction initiatives.
- Maintain vendor relationships (suppliers, utilities, environmental services) and ensure value for money.
MAINTENANCE & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Standard: Maximize equipment uptime and drive scalable improvements to support expansion.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with the Maintenance Manager; schedule downtime to minimize impact.
- Liaise with OEMs/technicians for repairs; maintain service logs and parts records.
- Monitor downtime and root causes; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead small‑scale process and layout improvements to increase capacity, safety, and quality.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years management experience, preferably within hospitality, commercial laundry, or a related operational environment
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a hands‑on, production‑based setting
- Working knowledge of commercial laundry operations, textile care, stain treatment, and workflow optimization
- Strong understanding of labour planning, scheduling, and cost control
- Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment knowledge considered an asset
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices; WHMIS required
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound operational decisions
- Preferred certifications (training available if not held): WHMIS, First Aid, Alberta OHS training
