Job description
We are an early-stage startup developing a production-grade, LLM-driven platform that delivers measurable value under real-world constraints. We are seeking an AI Engineer who can design, implement, and operationalize an end-to-end LLM system, while also building and leading the team responsible for delivering and scaling the product.
This is a high-ownership position. You will set the technical direction, rapidly transition solutions from prototype to production, and establish scalable engineering practices to support long-term growth.
Role Description
This is a remote contract role for a Generative AI Engineer. The primary responsibilities include developing and optimizing generative AI models, researching state-of-the-art methodologies, and building AI-driven solutions tailored to specific business problems. The role also involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and implement advanced AI applications effectively. Regular testing, model fine-tuning, and deployment will form a significant part of the day-to-day activities.
Qualifications
Proficiency in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and generative AI models, with practical experience in tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Demonstrated experience building and deploying LLM applications in production (beyond prototypes or demos).
Strong expertise in RAG, embeddings, chunking strategies, retrieval optimization, tool/function calling, and workflow/agent orchestration patterns.
Proven ability to select and adapt models and system architectures based on performance, cost, reliability, and quality requirements.
Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (e.g., Git).
Experience with data preprocessing, data analysis, and working with large datasets to train AI/ML models.
Experience developing pipelines (ETL/ELT, batch or streaming), including data quality validation and version control practices.
Strong command of database systems (PostgreSQL/MySQL, Redis, NoSQL) and vector search technologies (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, pgvector).
Practical experience with indexing, scaling, backup strategies, and query optimization.
Expertise in model evaluation, debugging, and optimization techniques for AI systems.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure for deploying AI solutions is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills with efficient time management capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present technical concepts clearly to team members and stakeholders.
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
Mandatory skills: Machine Learning, RAG, Recommendation System, Deep Learning, LLM Prompt Engineering
