Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Remote Millwork Estimator responsible for full-scope pricing of cabinetry, furniture, and architectural millwork projects.
This role goes beyond quantity takeoffs. The Millwork Estimator will be responsible for developing comprehensive cost estimates including materials, labor hours, manufacturing time, installation time, subcontractor costs, overhead considerations, and risk evaluation.
The estimator will review architectural drawings and specifications, interpret scope requirements, identify missing information, define assumptions and exclusions, and prepare complete, professional bid submissions.
This position is strictly focused on estimating functions. No project management responsibilities are included.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare complete and accurate cost estimates for cabinetry, furniture, and architectural millwork projects.
Analyze architectural drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to fully define project scope.
Quantify materials and calculate labor hours for fabrication, finishing, assembly, and installation.
Develop pricing for specialty components including upholstery, metal, glass, hardware, and custom finishes.
Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and lead times.
Identify scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions, and potential cost risks.
Evaluate manufacturing complexity and production time requirements.
Maintain and update estimating databases, labor rate tables, cost libraries, and pricing templates.
Submit organized, professional proposals aligned with company standards.
Support internal bid reviews and revisions as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Proven experience as a Millwork Estimator (cabinetry, furniture, architectural millwork).
Strong understanding of millwork manufacturing processes and installation sequencing.
Ability to calculate fabrication labor hours and installation durations.
Strong knowledge of millwork materials, hardware systems, finishing methods, and supplier pricing.
Experience pricing multi-material systems including wood, glass, metal, and upholstery.
Proficiency in CAD software and estimating tools.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical judgment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Reliable computer (Windows 10 or newer), dual monitors, and stable high-speed internet.
