The role:
Join Saltworks as a Demonstration Plant Operator and take on an exciting, on-site, hands-on role supporting the launch of a first-of-its-kind lithium demonstration plant located near Stoughton, Saskatchewan. With operations scheduled to begin in late Spring 2026, you will join at a pivotal moment as this lithium extraction plant progresses through installation, commissioning, and into live production.
In this role, you will work closely with a skilled on‑site team to support start‑up activities, help resolve day‑to‑day operational issues, and contribute to improvements that support safe, reliable plant performance. You will learn from Saltworks' industry‑leading experts, gaining mentorship and technical guidance as you grow in the role.
Following completion of the 12-18 month demonstration period, there may be opportunities to continue with Saltworks to support future expansion.

Key responsibilities:
- Operate demonstration‑scale lithium extraction and refining systems as part of day‑to‑day plant operations, with training provided.
- Follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and proactively identify and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Collect, record, and organize process data, including basic wet-lab testing and interpretation to support plant performance.
- Learn and apply an understanding of Saltworks' processes and plant equipment to support stable and efficient operation.
- Build practical knowledge in water chemistry, treatment processes, and lithium refining through on‑the‑job training and guidance from Saltworks' experts.
- Assist with completing shift logs, reports, and feedback on process performance, equipment behavior, and potential improvements.
- Perform routine maintenance and equipment checks, escalating complex issues to tradespeople or technical staff as required.
- Support troubleshooting activities by working with documentation, drawings, and basic troubleshooting practices.
You will be a great fit if you have:
- A diploma, certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in a technical or industrial field in (e.g., process technology, mechanical, chemical, or operations), with 1 – 3 years of industrial experience.
- A valid driver's license.
- A strong safety mindset and a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment.
- Hands-on experience using industrial tools and instruments
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively.
- The ability to learn quickly and maintain a high standard for quality and reliability.
- A collaborative, can-do attitude and willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
