Job Overview

• Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration laws.


• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens at or near borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions.


• Tracking down evidence of illegal entry, including footprints, marks, and other physical signs.

BORDER PATROL AGENTS work part-time on a rotating shift schedule which involves reviewing documents, interviewing witnesses, responding to emergencies, analyzing intelligence to locate suspects during special operations. They must also learn how to assess dangerous situations effectively.
