Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: Cochrane, AB
Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (Flexible)
Term: Seasonal (Tax Season) with Potential for Extension or Ongoing Role
Work Arrangement: In-Office (Not Remote)

We are a growing public accounting and advisory firm based in Cochrane, Alberta, that provides full-service accounting and bookkeeping support to small businesses and individuals across Alberta. Our team is known for its accuracy, integrity, and supportive, collaborative work environment.

As we head into a busy season, we are looking to add a Bookkeeper to support our accounting team. This role offers flexibility in hours and term length and may evolve into a longer-term or permanent position for the right person.

Position Overview

The Bookkeeper will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions during peak periods, particularly throughout tax season. Working closely with the Office Manager and accounting team, this position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a professional services environment.

This role can be structured as part-time or full-time, and seasonal or ongoing, depending on availability, workload, and fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties, including data entry and account reconciliation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client financial records
  • Scan, organize, and file client documentation (digital and physical)
  • Assist with preparing working papers and supporting documents for tax filings and financial statements
  • Draft and prepare engagement letters and routine client correspondence
  • Manage and maintain client records and internal databases
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the accounting team
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and interact professionally with clients as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous bookkeeping or accounting support experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel in particular); experience with accounting software is an asset
  • Professional, positive attitude and willingness to learn
