What the system does:
- AI chat agent that guides users through uploading contract PDFs
- LlamaCloud API extracts structured data from PDFs (seller, buyer, quantities, prices, dates)
- User reviews and confirms the extracted data
- System checks for duplicates, matches companies in the database
- User approves, and the contract is saved to PostgreSQL
Current state:
- 6 workflows built (1 main orchestrator + 5 sub-workflow tools)
- Several known bugs that need fixing before testing
- Additional tools needed (search, invoice processing, payment recording)
- Database schema is complete and has real data
What I need help with:
Phase 1 — Fix & Test (this posting):
- Take a look at my plan and ensure that it's a good solution to a complete system. I will explain what I have after the job is confirmed.
- Review all 6 existing workflows and understand the architecture
- Fix known critical issues (documented — I'll share details)
- Test the end-to-end flow with real PDF uploads
- Ensure error handling works properly
Phase 2 — Extend (if Phase 1 goes well):
- Build 3–4 additional sub-workflow tools (search contracts, search invoices, get outstanding balance)
- Build invoice extraction + insertion workflows (similar pattern to contracts)
- End-to-end testing with real documents
Tech stack:
- n8n (self-hosted on Railway)
- PostgreSQL (on Railway)
- LlamaCloud (PDF extraction API)
- OpenAI API (GPT-4o-mini for the chat agent, but we can discuss and change)
- Budibase (on Railway, only made connection yet to set up)
What I'm looking for:
- Someone with n8n experience (you've built workflows with sub-workflows, API calls, Postgres nodes)
- Comfortable with JavaScript (n8n Code nodes use JS for data transformation)
- Familiar with PostgreSQL (writing queries, understanding schemas)
- Patient and communicative — I'm not a developer, so I need someone who explains things clearly. And I might have lots of questions.
- Willing to explore and problem-solve together — this is an MVP, not a finished product.
How we'll work together:
- You'll work in a staging environment
- We'll communicate through messages and occasional screen sharing
- Milestone-based payments — I review and approve each deliverable before releasing payment
