We're building a health and safety iOS app that uses Apple Watch data (HealthKit) to passively monitor user activity and trigger automated alerts via push notifications and SMS. The app targets a specific consumer niche with strong emotional appeal and few / no direct competitors using this approach.
A complete product specification is ready — full architecture, database schema, API endpoints, background delivery strategy, onboarding flow, and subscription model. The spec is written to be AI-tool friendly. Full details shared under NDA with selected candidates.
TECH STACK:
- iOS: Swift/SwiftUI, HealthKit (background delivery), BackgroundTasks, UserNotifications
- Backend: Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging)
- SMS: Twilio
- Payments: StoreKit 2 (free + premium subscription)
- Minimum iOS: 17.0
SCOPE:
- Native iOS app reading HealthKit data in background
- Firebase backend with serverless monitoring logic
- Twilio SMS integration for automated alerts
- Multi-profile system with configurable thresholds
- Complete onboarding flow
- Subscription paywall (free tier + paid tier)
- App Store submission-ready build
TIMELINE: 6-8 weeks, 20-30 hours/week
AI CODING TOOLS ENCOURAGED:
We value speed and quality. If you use Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools to move faster, that's a plus. The spec is designed for AI-assisted development.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years Swift/SwiftUI experience
- Firebase experience (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions)
- At least one app shipped to the App Store
- Comfortable working from a detailed product spec
- Good async communication
NICE TO HAVE:
- HealthKit or health/wellness app experience
- Twilio integration experience
- StoreKit 2 / in-app subscription implementation
HOW WE WORK:
- Weekly 30-min video sync + async via Slack
- Code in shared GitHub repo
- TestFlight builds throughout development
- NDA signed before full spec is shared
Please include in your proposal: a link to an app you've shipped, your experience with AI coding tools, and your familiarity with HealthKit background delivery.
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
