We are a specialty retail store committed to quality products and exceptional customer service. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a detail‑driven Bookkeeper to support our financial and inventory operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, numbers, and contributing to a smooth-running retail environment.
We are looking to fill this role for an March 1st, 2026 Start Date as our existing bookkeeper transitions to retirement.
They will be the key person training our new bookkeeper along with our long-time Experienced Controller.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (Primary Focus):
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately and on schedule
- Maintain A/P records, reconcile vendor statements, and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and manage payment cycles, including cheque runs and electronic payments
- Organize and maintain digital and physical documentation
Inventory & Ordering Support:
- Receipt incoming inventory orders accurately
- Verify costs, quantities, and product details before entry
- Match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices
- Run Price Update files from Multiple Vendors
- Assist with ongoing inventory accuracy and reporting
General Bookkeeping Backup Duties:
- Credit card and bank reconciliations
- Track expenses and maintain organized financial records
- Assist with A/R and daily sales reporting as needed
- Support month‑end and year‑end processes
- Maintain accurate entries in accounting software
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data handling)
- Experience with bookkeeping in a retail or inventory-driven business is an asset
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive) and Knowledge of Accounting systems
- Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication
- Time Management: Complete tasks efficiently and on schedule with ability to work with autonomy
- Self-Starter: Motivated with a strong desire to succeed
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Customer Service Excellence: Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to help customers
- Ability to Learn:
- Proficient Math Skills for accounting and inventory tasks
